Water
The drinking water supply systems operated by Compania Aquaserv S.A. stretch over a length of 1,360 km, providing potable water to approximately 300.000 clients. The annual billed quantity of water (2015) is of 16 million m3.
Compania AQUASERV continuously monitors the potable water quality, starting from the treatment process down to the consumers’ taps. From the river bed and down to your tap, going through treatment plants and distribution systems, water is permanently monitored.
Sampling frequency and locations for water analyses are set based on the Potable Water Control Monitoring Program, for the entire operating area, divided into distribution zones, annually approved by the Public Health Offices of the counties in the operating area.
Drinking water is sampled from:
•Produced potable water discharge pipe to the distribution network
•Connection manholes, for the distributed potable water
•Storage tanks valves
Physico-chemical analyses are performed by the Drinking Water Analyses Laboratory within Compania AQUASERV S.A. Tirgu-Mures, registered with the Ministry of Health and accredited for performing this type of analyses, as well as by the Public Health Offices of the counties in the operating area.
Water source
Raw water is used for producing drinking water – natural surface source. The quality of produced drinking water, treatment technology, reactants’ and energy quantities used in the treatment – disinfection processes, they all depend on the quality (pollution degree) of the source used.
Treatment process
After intake, raw water is subjected to complex chemical processes for treatment and purification, using continuously improved technologies. Water quality is closely monitored, 24 hours a day, during all stages of the treatment process.
Water quality monitoring
Water quality analyses, performed by Compania AQUASERV’s Drinking Water Laboratory in order to ascertain potability, are performed according to Law 458/2022 republished in 2011, and Law 311/2004, aligned to the requirements of framework EU Directive 98/83/EC/1998 of the European Council – on drinking water quality.
Compania AQUASERV S.A.’s laboratory has qualified personnel and is endowed with modern equipment and work methods according to the latest standards in the field. Also, the laboratory has developed an internal permanent system for controlling the test results’ quality, through primary and secondary validations.
AQUASERV Drinking Water Laboratory is registered in the Ministry of Health’s Register of Laboratories, approved for performing control monitoring within the official control of drinking water quality, starting with 09.06.2006. Permanent recognition of competence was achieved as a result of participation to international inter-laboratory testing and through the laboratory’s accreditation.
Water quality control
The quality of drinking water produced and distributed is performed by all Public Health Offices of the counties included in the operating area, based on the Audit Monitoring Plan. Public Health Offices are testing the water quality at the consumer’s taps.
Consumers’ information
The purpose of control monitoring is to get periodically information on the organoleptic and microbiologic quality of produced and distributed drinking water, and about the treatment technology efficiency, in order to reveal conformity – whether drinking water is complying or not with the relevant parameters’ values set by laws.
Compania AQUASERV S.A. communicates the results of distributed drinking water quality monitoring, according to the legal provisions in force, and the results are also posted on the website www.aquaserv.ro.
